MISSION STATEMENT

It is the duty of the Wadesville Fire Department to protect lives and property from fire and other emergencies; to respond to emergencies in a professional and courteous manner; to reduce the rate of emergencies through public education and code enforcement.

This statement includes the number one function for all personnel, "protection of life and property conservation." It deals with the importance of fire suppression by the mention of responding to fire emergencies. It stresses the importance of fire prevention, as an important tool to reduce the rate of emergencies through public education and code enforcement.

This statement groups emergency medical responses with other emergencies, so as not to exclude other types of emergencies that we currently respond to, and not to limit the type of responses we may be faced with in the future.

UPDATE: FIRE STATION GRANT

We need your help.   In order to qualify for the OCRA grant that will allow the Wadesville Fire Department to add on to the current fire station, we need the support of the community.  Public donations of $12,000 are required to continue with the grant process.   Information letters explaining this process were mailed the last week of April.  All donations are tax deductible and can be made directly to our account at The Posey County Community Foundation’s office located at 402 Main Street in the Old National Bank Building in Mt. Vernon or mailed in the return envelopes that are sent with the letters.  All donations need to be acquired by the end of the application period (May 2012) to qualify.  If we can reach those donations we could get an addition to our fire station that will allow us to add a truck bay, offices, a larger training room, living quarters for full time volunteers, and more.

As a reminder, this grant is in no way affiliated with the Wadesville/Blairsville Sewer District and is not a competing project with the Sewer District project.  This grant is critical to the growth of our fire department and the community. This will make possible an emergency community shelter and expand our capabilities.  We will have the facilities for District 10 Training programs.  The sleeping quarters for firefighters will mean around the clock coverage for our community.  None of this can happen without the support from the community.  If you have any questions related to the grant process, please contact Patrick Fisher at (812) 457-0713 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
